Harold Rome’s score contains some of the most ardent and sweeping melodies ever written for the theatre, including the title song, “Restless Heart” and “Never Too Late For Love”. (Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette, New York, NY 10003) (7pm) Once upon a time, during a much wilder and wooly, NYC, Baby Dee cruised around the west village on a giant tricycle with a full-sized concert harp, an accordion, angel wings and cat ears, singing funny songs about Rudolph Giuliani and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. She also spent ten years as an organist for a Catholic church in the Bronx before joining the circus. Now she travels all over the world singing her very funny and heartbreaking songs. Composer Sxip Shirey is a huge fan and friend of the artist Baby Dee, believing her to have written some of the most beautiful and important songs that have not yet made it into the classic American song book. Sxip gathers together some of his and Dee's favorite New York City artists to interpret her songs. Also included is a special guest appearance by 9 year old singer Frankky Lou Hightower from Kansas City and a brief song or three from Baby Dee herself. Also featuring Andrew W. K., Corn Mo, Little Annie and Paul Wallfisch, Lance Horne, Curtis Eller, Aimee Curl, Mathew and Sarah, Phillip Raya and Lila.
