This ritual has been observed by indigenous cultures and Latinas\os for over 3000 years. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to celebrate and remember friends and relatives who have died. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, and offering sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.
