(Joyce SoHo, 155 Mercer Street, New York, NY 10012) (Oct16 @ 6:30; Oct17-18 @ 8:00; Oct 19 @ 3) From contemporary imagery to folk artistry, Pasión Flamenca, in association with Joyce SoHo, presents an evolutionary journey of flamenco in "Tributes," a selection of the company's homage performances including "Flamenclorico: Lore of the Miners," and "La Ultima Gota de Agua," a cinematic-dance spectacle commissioned by Dance New Amsterdam for "In the Company of Men," paying tribute to the flamenco dancers who lost their lives to AIDS. Bravado, sensuality, and raucity complete the program in Estampas Flamencas, choreographer Antonio Hidalgo's salute to tradition and joyous celebration of Andalusian culture.
